This sculptural piece is a genuine CONCORDE’s ROLLS-ROYCE aero-engine blade, from the 2nd stage of the low pressure compressor, mounted on a crystal base.
It is a very unique piece.
On November 15th 2003, in Paris, CHRISTIE’S held a famous Concorde parts auction sale. A seven engine blades lot, very similar to this one, was gone for €44.650, A unit price of €6.278 per blade !
These blades were 1st stage low pressure compressor blades, with quite the same shape as this one, but slightly bigger, mesuring five centimeters more.
This titanium blade is set in a plain, carefully polished, hiduminium stay.
RR58 Hiduminium is the alloy metal, the supersonic fuselage is made out of.
On a polished hiduminium plate is finely engraved:
ROLLS-ROYCE OLYMPUS 593 Mk 610
AERO-ENGINE BLADE / AUBE DE REACTEUR
The hiduminium parts’ faces visible through the crystal are carefully turned in the luxury watches’ way.
The grace of this blade, slightly twisted as a propeler one, the selected materials, the very careful fit and finish, the traditional engraving, the contrast between mat titanium and bright hiduminium, the soul from its history, its noble origin, are together doing a wonderful piece of crafmanship !
