CONCORDE
ROLLS-ROYCE OLYMPUS 593 Mk 610
AERO-ENGINE BLADE / AUBE DE REACTEUR

The hiduminium parts’ faces visible through the crystal are carefully turned in the luxury watches’ way.

The grace of this blade, slightly twisted as a propeler one, the selected materials, the very careful fit and finish, the traditional engraving, the contrast between mat titanium and bright hiduminium, the soul from its history, its noble origin, are together doing a wonderful piece of crafmanship !

CONCORDE

THE CONCORDE & ROLLS-ROYCE :

To fly at a fantastic Mach 2.02 cruising speed, about 2145 km/h or 1333 Mph, the Concorde was powered by outstanding engines:
The Rolls-Royce Olympus 593

Based on British Avro Vulcan and BAC TSR-2 strategic bombers’ Bristol Olympus 301 & 320 engines, the Rolls-Royce Olympus 593 is a twin spool, axial flow, turbojet engine, generating 169.3 kN (38,050 lbf) of maximum thrust.
The final version fitted to production Concorde is known under Olympus 593 Mk 610 denomination.

To be used at supersonic speeds, this engine is fitted with a sophisticated variable inlet system, a reheat system, and a variable geometry exhaust nozzle and thrust reversers, designed by French partner Snecma.

The engine consists of 7 low pressure stages and 7 high pressure (HP) compressor stages. The HP compressor turbines, which blades are exposed to the hotest combustion gas flow, are among the most complicated parts on gas flow and material resistance field.

The hereby blade is a 1st stage blade from the HP compressor, standing in the real heart of the engine.
Sculptural, made out of plain titanium, designed to withstand extrem pressures under up to 1500°c or 2732°f temperature, it is one of the nobliest part of the engine.
Reference B506867 is engraved on the left side.

The B506867 blade is an historic piece, indexed on Concorde’s engine spare parts catalogue, chapter 72-33-02, page 1-4.
It is listed too on the HP compressor parts drawing under 210 number, chapter 72-33-02, page 1-0, and on the HP compressor side view under 140 number, chapter 72-33-00, page 640.
A copy of these documents is delivered with the blade.
